Cartwright to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Washington. Also today, the White House will brief senators on artificial intelligence in a classified setting as lawmakers consider adopting legislative safeguards on the fast-moving technology. The briefers will include Avril Haines, director of National Intelligence; Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy director Arati Prabhakar and National Geospatial Intelligence Agency Director Trey Whitworth.
The House met at 2:00 P.M. for legislative business and will consider H.R. 2622 – To amend the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 to codify certain Securities and Exchange Commission no-action letters that exclude brokers and dealers compensated for certain research services from the definition of investment adviser, H.R. 1548 – Improving Access to Small Business Information Act and H.R. 1096 – 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps Commemorative Coin Act.
