Members of the Senate panel that oversees the federal budget will meet Tuesday as they seek to fast track spending on immigration enforcement. Republicans on Senate Budget Committee are slated to meet as senators prepare to advance a “skinny” budget resolution. Senators were originally supposed to meet late Monday afternoon, but it was rescheduled, and the Committee hopes to release text as soon as this morning. The resolution from Senate Budget Chairman Lindsey Graham, (R-South Carolina), is expected to provide instructions for roughly $70 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. That would allow the agencies to be funded for a minimum of three years, or through the end of President Donald Trump’s term, without needing to go through the regular appropriations process.
For today, the Senate is expected to again consider a motion to discharge S.J.Res.114, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran that have not been authorized by Congress.
The House is expected to begin Consideration of H. Res. ___ – Providing for consideration of H.R. 4690- Reliable Federal Infrastructure Act, H.R. 1897- ESA Amendments Act of 2025, H.R. 5587- Harnessing Energy At Thermal Sources Act of 2026, and H. Res. 1182- Expressing support for rural communities across the United States as stewards of the environment, major suppliers of United States energy resources, critical providers of food production and manufacturing capacity, and drivers of national economic stability, and recognizing the work of the House of Representatives in the 119th Congress in support of those vital communities.
Later today, the House will take up Pursuant to a Rule Consideration of H.R. 6387 – FIRE Act and wrap a number of suspension votes from the Energy and Commerce Committee including S. 1020 – A bill to require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to extend the time period during which licensees are required to commence construction of certain hydropower projects.
