When the Senate reconvenes at 3:00 P.M., it will continue marching through President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees. At approximately 5:30 P.M., Senators will have three roll call votes on the following: Motion to proceed to Executive Session for the consideration of Executive Calendar #13 Russell Vought, of Virginia, to be Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Confirmation of Executive Calendar #10 Christopher Wright, of Colorado, to be Secretary of Energy, and a Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #12 Pamela Bondi, of Florida, to be Attorney General.
More Senate confirmation hearings and committee votes on nominees will continue this week. The Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee considers the nomination of Brooke Rollins to be Agriculture secretary on Monday, and the Finance Committee meets Tuesday on the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead Health and Human Services. The Senate Intelligence Committee plans to vote on Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as the director of national intelligence during a closed session on Tuesday. Gabbard faces an uncertain path out of the panel, which has a one-seat Republican majority. She is not expected to pick up any votes from the Democrats on the panel, and at least three Republicans — Senators Jerry Moran of Kansas, Susan Collins of Maine and Todd Young of Indiana — are viewed as possible “no” votes.
The House will reconvene for votes at 6:30 P.M. tomorrow.
