Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made an urgent and emotional appeal to Congress on Wednesday morning to come to his country’s aid as it fights off a brutal Russian invasion, asking help protecting its air space, military assistance and stronger sanctions as part of what he cast as a war for the cause of democracy itself.  But it remains to be seen just how far Washington will go in meeting the Ukrainian leader’s pleas, which included the establishment of a no-fly zone over his country — a proposal the Biden administration and NATO allies have repeatedly rejected — and the urgent delivery of advanced antimissile defense systems such as the S-300 that would enable the Ukrainian military to harass and shoot down Russian cargo planes and fighter jets.  This morning, President Joe Biden plans to detail an additional $800 million in security assistance to Ukraine after Mr. Zelensky’s speech to Congress.

The Senate reconvened at 10:00 A.M. and will hold procedural votes today on four judicial nominees: Jacqueline Scott Corley to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California, Fred W. Slaughter to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California, Ruth Bermudez Montenegro to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of California and Victoria Marie Calvert to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Georgia

The House will consider H.Res. 979 – the Rule Providing for Consideration of H.R. 963 – FAIR Act of 2022 which prohibits a predispute arbitration agreement from being valid or enforceable if it requires arbitration of an employment, consumer, antitrust, or civil rights dispute.  The Rule also provides for consideration of  H.R. 2116 – CROWN Act of 2022 which would prohibit discrimination based on a person’s hair texture or hairstyle if that style or texture is commonly associated with a particular race or national origin
